While you are waiting for the email... let
me share with you the very first lesson of email marketing,
which I learnt it the hard way. I hope my experience will
help you save time and money...
My Miserable Lesson of Using
Autoresponder 2 years Lost And Thousands Dollars Thrown Into
The Toilet...
By picking a wrong autoresponder service...
Here is my embarrassing story,
and I hope you won’t make the same mistake…
Back in 2004, I wanted “cheap
and easy” way to manage my email marketing campaign. I
bought a script a very renowned self-hosted script, and
installed it onto my server. I loved it when people
started subscribing to my newsletter and buying my
then-eproducts.
I was happy ... for a few months.
That success was also the
beginning of my online misery. It was one of my biggest
marketing mistakes. I should have said it’s a
diaster.
The script only worked for a
few months - I found that it was not delivering my emails to my
subscribers! Many web service providers like AOL blocked my
emails as they think my emails were SPAM. I already
used "double opt-in" for my subscribers to sign up.
(Note: double opt-in refers to people need to confirm
subscription to verify they indeed requested the email
information, like the one you have to do above.)
The
conclusion? No matter how well you manage your
newsletter, someone will complain to his/her ISP (internet
service provider) that your emails are spams. It will happen,
one day, if that has not happened yet...
Now, after 2 years of
frustration, I quit using that self-hosted autoresponder
service. I am now using third-party autoresponder.
I did my homework and
researched it hard and long enough, before committing myself to
it. I have researched more than 10 email autoresponders
and come up with the following conclusion:
Only use a third party
autoresponder and it's either GetResponse or Aweber.
Both of them have very good
market reputation - while Aweber is a tad more popular due to
the fact that it is more user-friendly and the web-interface is
more fine-tuned, while GetResponse has more
criticisms towards its interface for not being intuitive
enough.
Both GetResponse and
Aweber tries hard to
deliver your email. At the time of writing, Aweber claims
it can deliver 99 out of 100 emails! 6
out of 10 internet marketers use
Aweber
as their autoresponder provider.
Aweber
simply delivers. I have watched and read
many reviews before commiting myself to it.
I practice what I preach...Yes,
I do use Aweber myself, since
2006. I have never regreted using it since...

Let's face it, you need a truly
functional autoresponder - one that really delivers - email. I
have seen some online marketers asking for cheap or free
autoresponder service (like myself 2 year back); I think it's a
big mistake. Autoresponder is not a
marketing service to cut corner from, as a reliable list
management system is vital component of any traffic. As
they always said, ...
"The Money Is In The List
Gold"
